Fair Usage Policy

1. Fundamental Principle: Entitlements vs. Fair Use

At QRnaly, we maintain a strict and transparent distinction between Contractual Plan Entitlements and Fair Usage Safeguards:

Fair use safeguards do not replace or expand your plan's published numeric limits.

2. Computational & Request Fair Use

Users and automated API clients must operate within reasonable computational parameters to prevent degraded latency for other platform users:

• API Request Rate Limits: REST API access is metered strictly per workspace tier (Pro: 30 requests/minute; Business: 60 requests/minute; maximum burst ceiling: 120 requests/minute). Automated clients that exceed rate limits receive HTTP 429 (Too Many Requests) with standard retry-after headers.
• Legitimate Scanner Traffic: Normal human scanning of published Dynamic QR codes (/q/[slug]) is never throttled or billed per scan. However, scripted bot crawlers, malicious traffic spikes, or DDoS floods targeting redirect endpoints are automatically mitigated by our edge security filters.
• Export & Rendering Operations: High-resolution vector SVG generation and 1200px PNG downloads execute client-side in your browser where possible. Bulk server-rendered document exports must not be subjected to automated parallel scraping.

3. Storage & Document Retention Fair Use

Document and media hosting features (PDFs, menu brochures, brand images) are provided to support legitimate QR landing pages:

• Storage Allocation: Storage usage is calculated atomically as current storage + incoming file ≤ plan quota. Maximum file sizes are enforced (PDFs: up to 10 MB on Pro/Business; Images: up to 10 MB JPG/PNG/WebP; Free tier: 3 MB limit).
• Retention Lifecycles: Free trial hosted documents are subject to a 30-day retention window. Active Pro and Business workspace documents remain hosted continuously as long as the subscription remains active.
• Prohibited Storage Uses: QRnaly document hosting cannot be used as a general cloud backup drive, file sharing mirror, video streaming host, or repository for non-QR-related media.

4. Resource Fair Use & Anti-Farming Safeguards

• Single Workspace Identity: Users may not systematically register multiple free accounts or rotate disposable email addresses to bypass the 1 Free Dynamic QR trial limit or storage ceilings.
• Add-On Integration: Legitimate business expansion beyond standard tier limits must be accomplished via official Add-Ons (+25 Dynamic QRs, +10 GB Storage, +1 Team Seat, or QR Credit Packs) rather than automated multi-account farming.
• Server-Authoritative Enforcement: All entitlement checks are performed server-side inside locked PostgreSQL transactions. Attempts to tamper with client-side quota states are logged and blocked.

The following activities represent severe violations of this Fair Usage Policy and our Acceptable Use Policy, resulting in immediate restriction, moderation review, or suspension:

6. Moderation Review & Appeal Process

QRnaly enforces fair use through proportionate, multi-layered safeguards rather than arbitrary automated bans:

• Review Escalation: When suspicious activity or an abuse report is detected, the affected QR resource may enter an under_review status while our trust & safety team investigates.
• Suspension & Owner Notice: If a fair-use violation is substantiated, the resource is marked suspended. The account owner is notified in their Dashboard with diagnostic details explaining why the resource is unavailable.
• Appeals: Account owners who believe their resource was restricted in error may submit an appeal directly via their Dashboard or by contacting support@qrnaly.com.
